CoCo the love incompetent

Hopefully, straightforward.

Kukuxumusu started out in Pamplona during the Sanfermines of 1989. Kukuxumusu, in the Basque Language, means “the kiss of the flea”. Their designers, mad enough to let themselves be chased by raging bulls once a year, produce some of the most exciting stamped clothing articles and accessories available over the web. These also make great presents. If you buy anything for your girlfriend, remember me too. XXL please, I hate στενός κορσές.

suck-my-big

Catherine

(It's suck-my-big.org, actually, by Catherine Skidmore.)

"11/4/04
Happy six-years-in-NY, Jay!

Today's moment of Zen: back during the Heather/faux-Munchausen-by-Internet saga, I'd been exchanging emails with Dr. Marc Feldman, an expert in the field of factitious disorders (which we covered in class this week). My interest being piqued because of the class lecture, I looked in the index of his book, Playing Sick, to see what info he had on internet use and factitious disorders - and to my surprise, found a blurb and email quote about Heather that I had included in the info I sent him! How cool, kind of. I knew I should have read the book earlier. It's on page 168, and they changed her name to Arlene. It was seven years ago, but it won't go away. There's also a quote from - I think - Melissa Anelli in there, too.

And the book is fascinating - people are really screwed up."

Catherine has been on the web since time immemorial. I used to follow her online diary and felt a bit like being in NYC myself back then. I guess she smelled like a blogger before there were any blogs around.

Celestial Harmonies

"Style is an adventure," he says. "You can't be restricted in your style because you don't know what's going to happen next." One result of this has been Celestial Harmonies' evolution into a company which is not large commercially but which has a large impact on a loyal, core audience. "If our market share is relatively tiny, well, that's a choice that we've made. It may be comfortably under 1% of the market, but it's a noticeable contribution to some people, and that's what's important. We are recording music for people to whom music is much more than entertainment."

They got some fine music. Check them out.

A Smart(-Alecky) Read

If a bird doesn't have a nose, how does it smell?

Logo

"Actually, ornithologists believe that birds do have varying senses of smells, depending upon the species and the size of the nostrils, or nares, in the beak or bill. So-called tubenoses (such as the albatross) have very large nares, which allow them to detect the odor of fish oil slicks on the surface of the sea from as far as 15 miles away downwind. Pelicans, meanwhile, have extremely narrow, almost invisible nares, and almost no sense of smell. Ducks have pretty good sniffers, but they don’t use them to seek out food – they determine that mating season is nigh when they get a good whiff of pheromones.

The bird with the best sense of smell is one with very poor eyesight – the kiwi. The shoe polish icon has his nostrils at the tip of his beak, and he uses it to sniff out worms and grubs and other tasty morsels for his dining pleasure. Not surprisingly, second runner-up in the smelling game is the vulture, who uses a combination of sight and aroma to detect the nearest decaying carcass."

Muddyland

Patrick kept asking for some photos of where I live but I guess my brain refused to register this task as a priority. Well, something happened that made me grab the camera and record the event: we decided to turn the backyard into a proper garden. Enter the bobcat!

Backyard

This little monster is noisy! I have to admit it's up to the task - it removed what looked like tons of garbage, shifted the ground, gave the neighbors almost a nervous breakdown, unearthed the place completely...

Backyard

Backyard

Of course, this was Day #1 of the project... I am now expecting a truckload of fresh composte so that the planting can begin... just in time for the rainy season (we've had just two days of rain in the past five months here in Athens...).

Backyard

Patrick, anybody -- will you give me a hand?

First posted @nootropia.net as 'A bobcat's view to where I live'.
