practice makes perfect

You're so modest. But life's achievements are hard to measure by our mortal means.

Be patient, it will all become clear in the end when there are no more second chances. If the food was great, you should have no regrets. I had dinner with P. last night, the person, not the cat. My expectations were crushed, but aren't they always. Damn that Kenderis.

Haven't we already discussed the virtues of Japanese literature? Don't you know that my absolute favorite writer is Haruki Murakami? I loved his character named Creta Kano in "The Wind-up Bird Chronicle" (her sister was named Malta Kano) and "Sputnik Sweetheart" also takes place, in part, in Greece. Everything is relevant, except what is not. "A Personal Matter" by Kenzaburo Oe is devastating and beautiful too. I recommend both writers without hesitation. Murakami also wrote a fascinating book, non-fiction, about the Tokyo subway gas attacks. He's got stories in the New Yorker all the time. If I weren't in love with you, I'd fall in love with him.

But thanks for saying that you hate me. Absence is supposed to make the heart grow fonder, you know. You don't know.

happy

Another year older, another year wiser? I hope you have a wonderful birthday with lots of cake and champagne. Are you staying the capital city enjoying all the improvements and infrastructure and getting ready for the games? Or are you sunning yourself on some remote island far from the madding crowd's ignoble strife? (Go ahead and identify that line. Originality fails me at 6 a.m.) I wish you all the best on your birthday and everyday. Wave to me, because I'll be watching.

xo

could have been better, i know. spent bday in L.[island], not as bad as i hoped it'd be, and the food was great (no champagne no way). but thanx for all the letters.

yep, it could have been better.

i hate me and you for going through this like we do. and: hey, read anything exciting lately? finished a japanese one titled "Hotel Iris": is she trying to be provocative or are they just normal like this?

e-kissez (cant beat the taste)
